It’s getting to be that time of year, which can mean many things to many people. A few years ago, as my birthday approached, I reflected back on the year and what I wanted to learn from it, and how I wanted to be different by the same time next year. That started a new tradition for me and I’ve continued each year. It’s become a replacement for a traditional New Year’s Resolution.
My goal for 2022 was to be unashamedly confident and the year before that was to live without regrets.
Each year is meant to build on each other.
My goal for 2023 is to be bold. To take bold steps toward achieving my dreams. Since I’ve spent this year practicing being confident in who I am and making no apologies for it, it felt like a natural progression to spend this next year practicing bold steps.
I don’t pick things that will be easy. I pick things that I need to practice, which is the point. I spent too many years putting other people’s needs ahead of my own and letting their wants have too much of an impact on my life. So there was a year where I really needed to step back and assess what I valued and what my standards were, it was a year of discovery for me, but I had to experiment with it and I started by going back to a time when I was genuinely proud of myself and honestly, I had to go back quite a few years for that.
What is the legacy you want to leave on the world?
How do you want to be remembered?
What are you doing to achieve that?
